The church is situated in Yamna settlement close to Yaremche town. A building of the church together with a bell tower belong to the sacred monuments of the Hutsul folk art.
The first mention about the church dates back to 1701 as the church of the Hole Trinity. According to one evidences, the church was mentioned as the church of St. Archistratigus Michael. Due to other version it was built in honor of St. John the Merciful.
