Brebeneskul

Brebeneskul is the second highest peak after Hoverla. Its surface resembles a ball. Glacier landforms are typical to mountain’s slopes, which are a result of frost weathering. The mountain is covered with alpine, subalpine meadows, and stony placers. Brebeneskul Lake is located to the west of the mountain. A river with the same name starts from here. There are different versions of the Brebeneskul’s name origin. According to one of them, it is related to a Romanian word which means «periwinkle», while another version assumes that the name comes from a small local instrument called «bernenytsia».
